California’s Congressional Debate Hacked, the Attacker Broadcasts Gay Porn

A forum which was to be used for the First Congressional District debate of California was hacked during the debate itself. The hack occurred during the live stream of the debate, and the attackers decided to broadcast gay pornography.

The interruption of a political event

The recent debate between Green Party’s Lewis Elbinger and Democratic Party’s David Peterson was rudely interrupted by a new hacking attack. The debate was being held on a forum designated to hold California’s First Congressional District debate when one or more attackers hacked it and decided to play gay porn instead.

The attack occurred almost immediately after the participants had their opening statements, and it lasted several seconds before the moderators managed to stop it. The group hosting the debate was the Independent Like the North State, and the debate was being held on Thursday night.

KRCR was quick to issue a report about the incident, in which they stated that the broadcast also went on KFOI. Right after the participants were done with their opening statements, and the moderator Chris Verrill started asking them questions, the feed was interrupted by a pornographic video involving two men.

One of the station’s moderators was also heard saying that the station was hacked again and that the team is trying to fix it. Around twelve people were watching the debate at the time of the incident, and Verrill has said that the attackers are just pranksters with a lack of respect for the station, debate participants, or the occasion itself.

Verrill added that the North State has a great community and that the incident caused by these ‘bad apples’ should not be allowed to spoil the picture. He also stated that he doesn’t know who these attackers are, or what their motives might be. Verrill wrote the same in a post on Facebook, adding that there are already plans being made about rescheduling the forum.

Just another attack

Hackers seem to have developed some sort of a tradition when it comes to broadcasting pornography during such events. Back in September of last year, a similar incident took place, when hackers managed to take control over television transmission within the Orange County. The programs that were scheduled to air were replaced with warnings of alien invasions and the supposedly-oncoming end of the world.

There was also an incident regarding one of the officials of Indian BSF (Border Security Force). The individual in question was trying to hold a presentation during Sainik Sammelan. However, they instead played a pornography video by accident, and this has continued for up to 90 seconds. The incident itself was embarrassing enough on its own, but what made it worse was that eight women were present as well.

Another incident in Georgia has seen a similar thing when in one of the state’s high schools a TV monitor played a pornographic video during the students’ lunch. One student even took a photo of the incident with her phone and sent the picture to her mother.
